About Rachel A. Rosen

Hi, I’m Rachel, founder of The College Calm.

My journey into college admissions began long before I became a counselor. I earned my undergraduate degree from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, followed by a Master’s in Counseling from Fordham University. After completing my formal training, I spent the next 15 years working as a high school guidance counselor, where I guided over 1,000 students and their families through the often overwhelming college admissions process.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping students successfully navigate the college process and gain admission to over 220 different colleges and universities across 34 states — from right here in New Jersey to campuses all over the country. My students have been accepted to a wide range of schools, including highly selective institutions like Brown, Cornell, Princeton, Stanford, and the University of Pennsylvania, as well as top-tier public flagships (University of Michigan, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Rutgers, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill etc.), strong state universities, and many wonderful smaller colleges where students truly thrive.

What I love most is that I work with students of all backgrounds and aspirations — not just the “elite” applicants. Whether a student is aiming for an Ivy League school, a top public university, a specialized program, or a supportive local college, my focus is always the same: helping them find the right fit while reducing stress for the entire family.

As a mom myself, I understand the emotional side of this journey — the hopes, the worries, and the late-night conversations around the kitchen table. I believe the college process doesn’t have to be chaotic or anxiety-filled. With the right guidance, it can actually become a meaningful period of self-discovery and growth.

Today, through The College Calm, I offer the same personalized, one-on-one support I gave my high school students — but now with even more time, flexibility, and individual attention for each family I work with.

If you’re looking for a calm, experienced partner to walk alongside you and your student through the college admissions journey, I’d love to connect.

Rachel Rosen, college admissions counselor, New Jersey
